Information on Refunds for Tickets to Performances from November 2 to 30, 2020

Dear Visitors,

Unfortunately, all performances of the Hamburg State Opera, the Hamburg Ballet John Neumeier and the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra scheduled between November 2 and 30, 2020 have had to be cancelled due to government decrees aimed at fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. Of course we will refund the value of all tickets purchased for the performances specified above.

If you bought your tickets by telephone or via the State Opera's website using a credit card (Visa- or Mastercard), you do not need to do anything. We will refund the sum of your purchase to your credit card.

If you paid in cash or in person at the box office, using a credit card, via SEPA debit or instant wire transfer, we kindly ask you to fill out our online refund form. The sum of your refund will then be wired to your account or can be credited to your customer account for future ticket purchases. Such credit can also be paid out at a later date. If your refund request includes several performances, you can indicate this on your form by using the function "Add another event", and request a refund for all events together. When your refund request has been successfully transmitted, you will receive a confirmation email to the address specified. It is not necessary to send in your tickets by mail. Any refunds will only be paid to the person who originally purchased them. We will deal with all requests in the order they were received, and we kindly ask for your patience and understanding.

We have been asked by many patrons in the past about the option of donating the value of tickets for the cancelled performances to the theatre. We are very grateful for this support, and have added this option to the online refund form. Your donation benefits the education and nurturing of young talent via the International Opera Studio of the Hamburg State Opera, the Ballet School of the Hamburg Ballet or the Orchestra Academy of the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra (depending on the tickets you had purchased). Needless to say, we will automatically mail you a donation receipt for your taxes.

We kindly ask for your understanding that it is not possible to pay our any refunds in cash at our ticket office.
In order to return tickets which were not purchased directly from the State Opera, but from external third parties, such as the daytime box office or phone sales of the Elbphilharmonie, visitor organizations or travel agents, kindly contact the seller in question directly.
