The third part of Hamburg’s “Ring des Nibelungen”, directed by Claus Guth. The second day in Wagner’s great tetralogy tells of the young hero Siegfried. He alone is predestined to kill Fafner and retrieve the ring from its cave. When he actually manages this feat, he also kills his stepfather Mime, who had planned to take advantage of him, and sets out to liberate Brünnhilde, Wotan’s daughter…
“Siegfried” is the third part of “Der Ring des Nibelungen”. In Wotan’s model of the world, Siegfried now becomes a pawn. The “most noble hero” forges the sword, kills the dragon and awakens Brünnhilde – but he remains ignorant of his true fate. The successful duo of Claus Guth and Christian Schmidt stages “Siegfried”.
