9th Philharmonic Concert

Kent Nagano

Anton Webern: Im Sommerwind

Gustav Mahler: Songs from "Des Knaben Wunderhorn"

Anton Webern: 5 Pieces for Orchestra Op. 10

Robert Schumann: Symphony No. 1 in B-flat major Op. 38 "Spring"

Conductor: Kent Nagano
Tenor: Klaus Florian Vogt
Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg

Klaus Florian Vogt is considered one of the most sought-after tenors of our times. A less well-known fact is that the singer began his musical career as a horn player in the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra. Most recently, he sang the role of Lohengrin under Nagano’s baton at the State Opera. However, Vogt and his former orchestra colleagues have worked together on the concert stage repeatedly. The 9th Philharmonic Concert features Mahler’s songs from "Des Knaben Wunderhorn", combining a folksy character with elements of the grotesque. The songs are complemented by works by Anton Webern and Robert Schumann’s "Spring Symphony" – "born in a passionate hour". Please note: the concert on Sunday morning features a special family programme. Older children can follow the first half of the concert live in the main auditorium with their parents or grandparents. During the second half of the concert, an artist conversation for children with Klaus Florian Vogt follows.
