In December 2020 Kent Nagano, the Philharmonic Orchestra and the International Opera Studio presented Christmas-themed programmes at Hamburg’s Main Church, St. Michaelis – at the time, this was only possible digitally, in the form of online concert streams. As the “Michel” is in dire need of financial help since the coronavirus crisis began, given the lack of touristic and concert revenue, the idea of a benefit concert was born. Festive Christmas music will resound during this benefit for Hamburg’s landmark, varied and special at the same time. Together with the International Opera Studio, the Alsterspatzen, the Michel’s cantor and organist Jörg Endebrock and members of the Philharmonic State Orchestra, General Music Director Kent Nagano performs works by Handel, Rossini, Gustav Holst and Heinrich von Herzogenberg.

Please note: Different to previous announcements, Katharina Konradi will sing the soprano parts in the Petite Messe and the Geburt Christi.

Tickets priced between 10 and 49 Euro are available from the presenter (Michel-Musik-Büro) by calling +49 (40) 450 118 676, or online.

Venue: Hauptkirche St. Michaelis, Englische Planke 1, 20459 Hamburg
