The Idyll of Tristesse

"Moskau, Tscherjomuschki" takes us into the dreamlike world of a Soviet prefabricated housing estate from the 50s. Dmitri Shostakovich's operetta in Vera Nemirova's production will take place at our opera stabile. Under the musical direction of Rupert Burleigh, the singers from our International Opera Studio will perform together with Narea Son and Larissa Wäspy. Read more...

"Ariadne auf Naxos" with Camilla Nylund, Stephen Gould, Kent Nagano

From September 14th on, there will be three performances of Richard Strauss' opera about an opera performance. Camilla Nylund will sing the Primadonna/Ariadne and Sofia Fomina will sing Zerbinetta. Anaik Morel will be the composer, Stephen Gould will be the Tenor/Bacchus. The musical director will be Kent Nagano. Read more...



"Nabucco" back on the schedule

Kirill Serebrennikov's staging of Giuseppe Verdi's opera of freedom under the musical direction of Paolo Carignani is back on stage from September 19th. The Greek baritone Dimitri Platanias is Nabucco. Dovlet Nurgeldiyev takes over the role of Ismaele. Liudmyla Monastyrska and Nadezhda Karyazina are Abigaille and Fenena. In Leoš Janáčeks opera, Katja is sung by Olesya Golvneva, her mother-in-law by Hanna Schwarz. The male main roles Tichon and Boris are played by Jürgen Sacher und Edgaras Montvidas. Whether individual dancer, couple, formation, beginner, professional, from Hamburg or on a visti – take part, dance with us! Together we celebrate the open-air broadcast of the "Die Nase" premiere on September 7th 2019 at 8 p.m. Before the broadcast we invite everybody to dance with us: to Schostakowitsch's most beautiful waltz music, the Second Waltz. Die Spielzeit 2019/20


The 2019/20 season & presale

The program for the upcoming season has been released: five premieres at the Hamburg State Opera, one premiere in the Elbphilharmonie. Moreover, we look forward to two new productions, one German premiere and one revival at opera stabile. At the "Probebühne 1", there will be one world premiere. Furthermore, 28 pieces from our repertoire as well as the 3rd Italian Opera Weeks! Find the upcoming season's schedule and booklet here.
From now on, tickets for the entire opera and ballet season 2019/20 can be purchased. You can find all details about the ticket purchase in our service area.

European cultural channel ARTE is launching a new online service in partnership with 22 European opera houses: "ARTE Opera Season." The performances of the participating opera houses will be broadcastes live every month (via "ARTE Concert") and will be available online.
