Robert Dean Smith is "Parsifal"
Between April 19th and May 5th, Achim Freyer's staging of Wagner's last opera will be on stage four times. The musical director is Kent Nagano. The role of Parsifal is taken over by Robert Dean Smith, Tanja Ariane Baumgartner is Kundry, Kwangchul Youn and Attila Jun sing Gurnemanz and Egils Silins performes Amfortas. Also, Vladimir Baykov can be heard as Klingsor.
Shy Nemorino (Dovlet Nurgeldiyev) tries to win the beautiful Adina (Katerina Tretyakova) with the help of a supposed love potion courtesy of Dulcamara (Omar Montanari). Five performances between April 23rd and May 3rd under the musical direction of Nicolas André.
"Die Nacht der Seeigel (The Night of the Sea Urchins)"
Three people in three different stories, but mysteriously connected and merged. The final project of the "Akademie Musiktheater heute" of the Deutsche Bank Foundation. With Gabriele Rossmanith, Na'ama Shulman and Hiroshi Amako. World premiere on May 2nd 2019!
Anja Kampe is Minnie
In Puccini's western "La Fanciulla del West", a contest between Dick Johnson and Sheriff Jack Rance for the barmaid Minnie will begin on May 7.
Anja Kampe is Minnie, Dick Johnson will be portrayed by Marco Berti and Jack Rance is sung by Claudio Sgura.
The musical director of this production by Vincent Boussard is Josep Caballé-Domenech.
Kate Aldrich is Hélène
When beautiful Hélène, unhappily married to King Ménélas, meets Pâris, they embark on a risky love adventure. American mezzo-soprano Kate Aldrich gives her role debut as Hélène. Oleksiy Palchykov is Páris, Peter Galliard is Ménélas.
In their production, Renaud Doucet and André Barbbe stage "La Belle Hélène" on a cruise ship of the 1960s. The musical directior is Nathan Brock. Four performances from May 14th.
Kent Nagano conducts
The Hamburg General Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Hamburg State Opera and the Philharmonic State Orchestra will conduct the German premiere of "Lessons in Love and Violence" (George Benjamin/Martin Crimp) as well as "Fidelio" (Ludwig van Beethoven) and "Parsifal" (Richard Wagner)!
The 2019/20 season
The program for the upcoming season has been released: five premieres at the Hamburg State Opera, one premiere in the Elbphilharmonie. Moreover, we look forward to two new productions, one German premiere and one revival at opera stabile. At the "Probebühne 1", there will be one world premiere. Furthermore, 28 pieces from our repertoire as well as the 3rd Italian Opera Weeks! Find the upcoming season's schedule and booklet here.
From May 20th, ticket sales will start for the entire opera and ballet season (for subscribers as of May 16th).
Katerina Tretyakova will sing the role of Adina in "L'Elisir d'Amore" (in the 2018/19 season) for Hanna-Elisabeth Müller, Omar Montanari will sing the role of Dulcamara for Alexander Roslavets.
Digital "ARTE Opera Season"
European cultural channel ARTE is launching a new online service in partnership with 22 European opera houses: "ARTE Opera Season." The performances of the participating opera houses will be broadcastes live every month (via "ARTE Concert") and will be available online. The Hamburg State Opera is a partner and will be making a production available as a broadcast from the next season!
