World Premiere: “Frankenstein”

On May 20 we celebrate the world premiere of “Frankenstein”, a commissioned composition by Jan Dvorak, directed by Philipp Stölzl, at Kampnagel. The five shows are part of the program of the 3rd Hamburg International Music Festival which will be held from April 27 until Mai 30, 2018. Read more...

World Premiere: “BENJAMIN”

“BENJAMIN” premieres on June 3 at the State Opera under the musical direction of composer Peter Ruzicka and staged by Yona Kim, who wrote the libretto as well. The opera deals with the life of philosopher and cultural scientist Walter Benjamin. Read more...


Godly familiy dispute

As of May 18 Claus Guth's production of Wagners “Das Rheingold” is back on stage. Doris Soffel makes her debut as Erda, Kay Stiefermann, Werner Van Mechelen, Thomas Ebenstein, Jenny Carlstedt and Katerina Tretyakova are starring at her side. Public master class

On May 24, 7.00 pm, the public master class of the International Opera Studio of the Hamburg State Opera takes place at the KörberForum. The opera studio members will be instructed by internationally acclaimed Kammersängerin Gabriele Fontana and Marcus M. Hess, doctor for voice. Opera Director Constanze Könemann will moderate the event. Find more information


On-Sale Dates & online subscriptions

NEW! Starting with the 2018/19 season, as of Monday, June 11, 2018 (for subscribers: from Thursday, June 7, 2018) tickets can now be purchased for the entire opera and ballet season. As of the season 2018/2019, short-term ticket sales for a limited contingent of tickets that became available 28 or 29 days before the performance are no longer available.


The 2018/19 season

The program for the upcoming season has been released: six premieres – including two German premieres – at the Hamburg State Opera and Elbphilharmonie. Moreover, we look forward to three new productions and one world premiere at opera stabile, 29 pieces from our repertoire as well as the 2nd Italian Opera Weeks!
