Admission requirements and application
Season 2025-26 - Artistic Director: Tobias Kratzer
The online application portal for Hamburg State Opera's International Opera Studio will go live for the 2025-26 season, the first under the leadership of its new artistic director, Tobias Kratzer.
Singers in the voice categories soprano, tenor and bass can submit their applications via the online application portal from July 8th to September 30th, 2024.
Only applications submitted through the online application portal will be accepted. Any applications submitted directly by e-mail will not be considered. Age limit: applicants over the age of 30 will not be considered. The deadline is the start of the Opera Studio on 1 September 2025.
Please submit the following documents with your application:
• Resume / Curriculum vitae (PDF)
• Photo / Headshot (JPEG or TIFF)
• Video recordings (AVI or MP4) of 2 to 3 arias or songs, preferably from different musical periods; the video can also be attached to the Resume/CV as a YouTube link.
If you are selected for an audition, you will receive an e-mail with an invitation to audition and further details about the audition process. Auditions will be held in Hamburg in November of 2024.
Audition Repertoire: 3 to 5 arias from the standard repertoire that represent your Fach. At least one aria by Mozart must be included.
